Boundary Waters is a family owned and operated business. Artist Michael Karns and his wife Lisa, his children Trevor and Heather, and his two friends Duggan and Josh… but we all know that the friendly family dogs Bear, Dexter, and Max are the ones really running the show here!

Michael Karns graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Michael is known for his award-winning work, easygoing personality, and dedication to quality.
Lisa KarnsOwner
In addition to her impeccably amazing managing skills, Lisa is the resident Jack-of-all-trades. Our projects are a success thanks to her dedication to both customer service and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Trevor KarnsManager
Trevor joined the Boundary Waters team just a year after its inception when Michael needed the extra help. Since then, the father-and-son team have been working together. Trevor’s precision while printing has ensured that the quality of each print be no less than perfect.
Diego Mendes MacedoEmbroidery Operator
Diego is the newest employee at the shop. He joined in 2024 after producing his own embroidered goods. His unique style is a great addition to the shop!
Trevor DugganLead Screen Printer
Duggan is nothing short of a master at screen printing. You’ll usually find him manning the equipment in the shop, checking to make sure everything is perfect. He is also a talented laser printer for our popular leather patches.
Taylor WhiteScreen Printer
Taylor joined the team in 2024 and has been mastering the art of screen printing ever since. He has a background in graphic design and enjoys contibuting to BW's standards in providing a quality screen printing product our customers have come to know.
